2021 Chrysler Pacifica

2021 Chrysler Pacifica   Touring L

March 31, 2023 found us trading in our 2009 Town & Country with 167,000+ on it for this white beauty with 7000 miles on it and 1 year 9 months left on the factory warranty.  Bought it at a Cadillac Dealership in Ocala, FL where it had apparently been traded in on a Caddy.  Car Fax is clean. Car runs great. It is like a brand new car for $33,465 plus the tax and paperwork which amounts to another 2500+.  It is a beauty.  Odometer rolled to 7000 while we were driving it home.

April 17, 2023 discovered a neat feature. I thought I would have to purchase crossrails aftermarket, but they are contained in the siderails already. Four thumb screws off, bridge them across (they are letter coded) and thumb screws back on. The ends articulate a little to give them some height!

  1. We passed up a three year extension warranty offered for roughly 1500 dollars. If it would have been a little cheaper I think we would have got it. We have 2 years 9 months left on the factory warranty for everything and I think 60,000 miles on the drive train. It can be purchased later if we choose, but will be more expensive, of course.

  2. 9140 miles on odometer: Took first major road trip from Florida to Wisconsin. Cathy learned all about the temperature control, satellite radio, and seat controls and heating. I noted that windshield wipers come on and self-regulate for speed if you flip them on at the lowest setting and also that the headlights automatically dim when you put them on bright setting. Car ran fine. I did a short test on freeway driving and got 31.0 miles per gallon.

  3. Need to have the hitch receiver to accommodate the nice Thule 2-bike rack. Ordered it online for $209.43 from e-trailer. It's a Curt C29UR, which is supposedly identical to the 13466. It was delivered and I took the van and it over to Seversin's to have it installed.

  4. Just over 10K on it now. I drove Cathy to O'Hare and used it to camp 4-nights, so a total of 4 motel bills saved.

  5. Cathy's plane late on pick-up. She had to stay overnight in Toronto. I used the van for camping night #5 of it's career. Stayed in Rockton, IL

  6. We took the White Ghost on a road trip with brother-in-law Chris. Minnesota, mostly. Put the cots and the padding in like the other vans and everything worked out beautifully! There is a bit more rise in the back than the Town & Country vans had, so we put four styrofoam canoe carrier blocks on the very front crossbars of the cots. Excellent! 6 nights in the van, one in a motel! Eleven nights in the van means we've saved 1100 dollars. Chris did the same with his van. We stayed mostly in WalMarts!

  8. The "White Ghost" as I have named her is stored for the winter in the garage at BWW with the batteries in.

  9. Went to start up the White Ghost today and was not surprised to need to jump start it. The problem was that it wouldn't jump start either! It has two batteries which were quite dead. No lights on when the doors were opened, or anything.
I brought the Jetta up close and set up to jump, and....nothing but a few clicks and an occasional short grind. I let it charge for a half hour and no difference.
Went to the internet and learned how to swap out the starter relays for other identical relays. That made no difference. I finally had to give up and go to Dutch's Auto Repair, where the lady at the desk dissed Chryslers and said that it was the starter. She could not see it for a week.
I went back and rocked it, hoping to jar loose the starter, if that was the problem. To no avail. Finally had Liberty towing come. The young man put a powerful battery kicker on it and it started, but died the instant it was removed, no matter how long it idled or even if I gunned it for a while. I eventually had him tow it to Seversin's. Went by there later and they had it in a bay with a charger on it overnight. We'll see tomorrow what the score is.
