BWW Project #40 Painting Roof Valleys

BWW Project #40:  Painting Roof Valleys

The roof valleys, as can be seen, are rusted and ugly although their integrity is good.  There is a front and back valley on the downstairs bedroom that juts out into the yard a little.  The toilet stack pipe above also has a cannister over it that was sealed up to the pipe itself, but which separated away quite a bit because of the heat.

I painted both the valleys and the housing for the stack pipe.  The roof is barely walkable, so I threw a nylon rope over the top and tied each end to trees, so that I had something to grab for support and in the case of a slide.

In the back there is a short valley between the garage roof and the side of the house.  Painted this, as well as the four inch wide aluminum strip that goes the length of the house from the garage out eastward.

Next day, I went over all things again with a second coat of Rustoleum metal paint.

Got a tube of rubberized black jack and did the end of the northmost valley where it needed it, and filled in the separated section on the toilet stack.

While I was up on the garage roof, I took the opportunity to paint the plywood sides of the little weather vane on top of the garage.

The whole project was a nice improvement in looks for the house.
