This is another untenable situation! Water will not flow uphill! It will simply flow back against the house. This is in the middle of the east side and the garage is still further to the left. Hacksawed off the end of the extension, removed it as well as the right angle piece. Put a new right angle piece turning to the left and added what was left of the extension. Then I added two white tubular extensions to carry the water southward and slightly downhill to empty it out the stone path which will carry it to the south of the garage.
This solution is for winter only, while we are away, and for the spring thaw. In the summer, I will take off the doubled tubular extension and replace it with a roll-out extension which will operate only when it rains and then roll back up to the end of the fixed pipe. That will enable us to walk on the patio without tripping over it.
I picked up a third extension and added it to the end, so now the water is carried all the way to the path. We were concerned about just letting it onto the patio. I think it finds its way to the garage door.
