BWW Project #18 Internet set up

BWW Project #18  Internet Set Up

We shopped around and got the best deal from Spectrum.  I have serial numbers and passwords for the router and modem on my phone.  We were used to them sending a guy by to hook up the cable modem to the system up on a pole, but this place is all underground, no poles anywhere!

What they do now is send you the router and modem via UPS and you figure out where to hook it up and hope for the best.  I suppose the back-up is to call them and they walk you through it and ultimately send a guy out if you can't succeed.

There is a TV nook built into the LR wall and a couple of rectangular holes sawed out of the back.  The top one has a four pronged outlet and the bottom one has a nice BOSE sub-woofer, which is a project for the future.

Lo and behold, there was a coax cable in there, too, and I hooked it to the modem, plugged it in and waited and it seemed to find a signal.  Next you hook the modem to the router with an ethernet cable and plug that in.  Ten minutes later it booted up and voila!  INTERNET

Once hooked up, the router and modem can be stuffed in there next to the BOSE subwoofer and the wiring all contained in the wall and out of sight.  We lucked out on this one.  Cathy merely had to use the ap on her phone to initialize the whole system and we now have Netflix and our printing and computer network working throughout the whole place.
