BWW -- Project #2

 BWW -- Project #2

The 3 season sun porch has storm windows which were stored in the garage.

Seven of the panels have screens in them and I took them out after quite a learning curve releasing them.  Firstly, the inside windows slide up and down after loosening and pulling towards the center, two little round pins...
I removed some of the pins and will need an awl to move the slides over to reveal the hole so I can put them back in.  Loosening and moving toward the center of the window releases the window to slide up and down...
These little rotating hooks secure the screen into the window socket. They also secure the storm in place when it is exchanged for the screen.  The screens are easy to handle, but the storms will need Cathy pushing from the outside while I secure these little hooks.  Didn't do it today because the storms will need washing with Windex, which we will do tomorrow or soon after.  In any case, I have the whole thing figured out and project #2 is pretty much in the bag.

  1. Cathy, of course, needed to clean all the storms with Windex and it is a 2 person job to put them in place, which we did today. Still need to use the awl to put the knurled knobs back on the releases where I took them off.

  2. Used the awl to move the slides and re-attach the knurled knobs. This job is done!

  3. As an observation, when it is in the high teens or twenties outside, this room is cozy warm and delightful if and only if the sun is shining. It is really positioned well as a passive solar collector!
