BWW Project #33 Garage Cupboards Out

BWW Project #33:  Garage Cupboards Out

The garage is all ready for ceiling painting by our nephew or Cathy but the walls are even more banged up and will require some drywall repairs in spots, and removal of a lot of stuff.  The various bicycle hangers, ladder hangers, can-crushers, nails, and screws all are easy enough to remove, but there are some large cupboards both standing and hanging on the walls in back.  The bottoms have absorbed water and are funky.  The mice and chipmunks have gotten in through the corruption at the bottom of the man-door and have nested in there and died both in the drawers and behind the units.

A good day was spent over a period of a week or so unscrewing doors to make them lighter, and unscrewing them from the walls.  Some of the units, particularly the one to the north of the man-door, are pretty large and required two people to haul them to the street once they were stripped down

The end result is a LOT more room back there, particularly if the van is parked inside.  And a lot cleaner after the nests and rubble were sucked up by the shop vac.

Cathy will probably prepare the walls and we may hire the grandkids and their friends to paint the garage later in the summer or fall.  Then we will have to methodically stow things to maintain a lot of room in there and to keep it cleaner and the rodents out.
